THEREFORE I TELL YOU, DO NOT WORRY ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT YOU WILL EAT OR DRINK OR ABOUT YOUR BODY, WHAT YOU WILL WEAR, IS NOT LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN FOOD AND THE BODY MORE THAN CLOTHES.(Matthew 6: 25)
Life is a gift that has been given to you and you have the responsibility to live to the fullest and make the most of it! How do you intend to live and make the most of the 60, 70, 80 , 90 or 100 years that you may have to live on the earth?
Some one once said and I agree with him absolutely that ” The tragedy of life is not that it ends so soon, but that we wait so long to begin it”. That is the situation with many people, they are simply not living their lives to the fullest according to God’s ordination.
Well, I’m of the opinion that to live life to the fullest and make the most of it, you need to begin by asking your self the right questions and I will like to offer you one of those important questions that will help you access your life in light of God’s word. That question is: WHAT DOES GOD WANT FROM YOUR LIFE?
Ideally, since God is the one who created you and gave you life, He alone qualifies to give you the accurate answer to that question. And He’s answer is not farfetched, it is contained in His word. “Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully, worthily and accurately, not as unwise and witless, but as wise, sensible, intelligent people, making the very most of the time, buying up each opportunity…therefore do not be vague, thoughtless and foolish, but understanding and firmly grasping what the will of the Lord is”(Ephesians 5: 15 – 17)Amplified Bible.
From the above scriptural passage, it is clear from the very first line in the very first verse that, “living purposefully” is what God wants from you and every one of His children. That is the kind of life He expects you to live, a life that is lived guided by His purpose. God’s purpose for you is that for which you live, the very reason for your creation, being and doing.
So far, so good, what will you say is God’s purpose for your life? Have you discovered what exactly God wants from you? Or is your life just about spending time doing stuff like eating, dressing your self, sleeping, watching Television, going to school, acquiring degrees, getting a job or setting up your business, getting married, having children, raising a family, going for vacations and buying properties? Is this list what your life will consist of when all is said and done? If your answer is yes, then there is need for a reappraisal and realignment of your life and values with God’s higher purposes. Whereas, all the items that are mentioned in the list above are worthy and legitimate causes that should be pursued, they certainly should not be and can not be the only things that will make you live your life to the fullest. Your life will be lived to the fullest when you live it with eternity in view. It is my prayer that the almighty God will help you to begin to live your life to fulfil God’s purposes for your creation in Jesus name.
